Family Holidays in the UK and Ireland

If you’re thinking about a family vacation to the UK but aren’t sure where to go and what to see then this blog is for you! The UK is an excellent choice for a family holiday as there are many family-friendly attractions and theme parks to enjoy, as well as resorts that cater for families.

London is an obvious choice for a vacation in the UK and it’s a good place to start if you are planning a multi-city tour in the UK as it has excellent transport links to other cities. Whilst in London, be sure to check out the main attractions, such as Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, the London Eye and the Tower of London. There are also many museums and galleries to keep you entertained, such as the Science Museum, which has an IMAX® theater, the Imperial War Museum and the Tate Modern. If you have an animal lover in the family, don’t miss ZSL London Zoo and the SEA LIFE London Aquarium. We also highly recommend Madame Tussauds, which features 14 interactive zones with wax figures of the rich and famous. Other great days out include Ripley’s Believe It Or Not near Piccadilly, which has over 700 artifacts and interactive experiences across six floors, and Shakespeare’s Globe. We can also recommend themed tours, such as chocolate tours or Harry Potter tours – we would be happy to arrange these as a part of your personalized vacation to the UK. There are also a number of theme parks that can be enjoyed around the UK, including Chessington World of Adventures, LegoLand, Thorpe Park and Alton Towers. You can also enjoy an escape to nature at one of the UK’s CenterParcs centers.

If you’d prefer a more active break then we recommend Ireland, which is perfect for hiking and biking. In particular, check out the Giant’s Causeway, which is a series of basalt columns on the North Atlantic coast that appeared due to an ancient volcanic eruption. There are many pretty walking trails along the coast and plenty of photo opportunities. We also thoroughly recommend visiting Killarney, which is an up-and-coming holiday destination in Ireland. It is a walking town and there are plenty of trails to enjoy. It also features Ireland's first national park, an expanse of woodland, sandstone mountains and low-lying lakes, and is the perfect place to enjoy walking, biking and, of course, the charming Irish people.

If you’re looking for a beach holiday in the UK then Cornwall is a good choice and is very family friendly. There are surf schools that run year-round, as well as walking trails, golfing, tennis courts, National Trust sites to visit and much more! There is also a vineyard in Camel Valley, which makes for an interesting day out in the summer.

A good option for a cultural vacation that the children will enjoy is Edinburgh in Scotland. Children of all ages will certainly enjoy learning about the turbulent history of the Scots at Edinburgh Castle and you can also visit Holyrood Palace, Arthur’s Seat and the Royal Botanic Gardens. There is also the Camera Obscura and World of Illusions, which is an interactive museum dedicated to optical illusions.
